About Zoom

Zoom Technologies Inc. was established in 1999 with a focus on mechanical and electro-mechanical design now known as “Mechatronics”.  Based upon client demand, Zoom established a Project Management arm to assist clients develop requirements, design, manufacture and implement their projects.

Working with clients over multiple projects and product generations, Zoom has acquired the critical experience needed for the design, manufacture and optimization of complex mechanical and electro-mechanical components and assemblies. From machining microscopic grooves in plastic for a Biotech company to making large stainless steel camera fittings for an industrial imaging system, Zoom undertakes most things in-house and through its local supplier network.

Most projects embrace elements from one or more of the following key areas:

  • Project management - scheduling
  • Requirements capture and definition
  • Process planning and documentation
  • 3D-design and solid modelling (Mechanical design)
  • Design of custom products incorporating "design for manufacture" methodology
  • Electronic circuit design, testing and prototyping
  • Embedded software design and testing
  • Manufacture of products in prototype and production quantities

Zoom works with other specialist companies and sub-contractors to compliment its in-house capabilities.

Some of our accomplishments are:

  • Contributing to the early design of a famous author’s writing machine prototypes.
  • Machining completely waterproof camera housing assemblies with only 2mm wall thickness from solid aluminum.
  • Reverse engineering mechanical parts where the original parts were no longer available. In many cases, the updated design improved performance and reliability.
  • Designing a plastic injection moulded housing for an electronic ticketing machine.
  • Machining 50 micron wide slots (0.002”) in plastic microscope slides.
  • Designing specialised brass cavity molds where no other supplier could help the client.
  • Preparing corporate awards and engraving corporate logos with a same day turnaround time for rush jobs.
  • Designing custom lighting fixtures and architectural sculptures for a successful international glass artist.
